The Source of Love is a slice of life drama with a redemptive theme. Ming is the stern Chinese language teacher to whom most of the residents of Cheung Chau owe their proficiency in speaking and writing. His dignified career, hardworking son, university-enrolled daughter and jovial wife give the impression of a very contented man. Though all looks well on the surface, we see a family in crisis. The family has to deal with unresolved conflict, and come to terms with differing perspectives on faith and eternity.
This intriguing film raises significant questions about the nature of relationships, faith and culture -- an engaging film about a family in transition and the hope that often seems just beyond reach.
Produced in Hong Kong with a stellar cast and crew. Sub-titled.
Length: 106 minutes
Languages: Mandarin and Cantonese (Subtitles in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese)
