This outstanding drama is the tale of estranged twin brothers, one caught in a life of crime, the other an aspiring pastor. John and Jeremiah Davis (David White) are about to cross paths again, under very difficult circumstances. John has just been released from prison, and while he wants to 'go legit', he needs help. He soon regrets turning to his old mentor Rome (Eric Roberts) - and when he decides to double-cross Rome and break free, things get a little crazy. For one thing, the brothers find themselves in reversed roles... John preaching a sermon and Jeremiah rehearsing a planned crime. Mercy Streets is a daring, bold film. It offers a compelling story of faith, hope and forgiveness, but risks an accurate portrayal of crime, complete with violence and even a bit of rough language. Movieguide called it "...a masterful piece of moviemaking with a strong Gospel message," and included it as one of 8 nominee's for the John Templeton Foundation's $25,000 Epiphany Prize for the Most Inspiring Movie of 2000. The film features a great soundtrack featuring: Deliriou5?, Moby, Jennifer Knapp, Sixpence None The Richer,
Steffan Fantini, Keaton Simons, FROS'T, and AJ Mora.
